Where did the year go and Give-A-Way

I started to look for a new job this time last year and after a little while did I find a job at a local Coffee Roastery. I work in the office taking orders, talking to customers etc. My day starts with checking overnight messages and emails, printing out online orders and shipping labels. 001

002

Next thing is to make sure all orders end up on the Roast Log, so the Roaster know what to roast for the day as all the coffee we sell is roasted to order, no coffee is sitting on the shelf waiting to be sold. We sell coffee from Costa Rica, Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala to mention a few.

003

The green coffee beans come to us in big burlap bags and we receive coffee by the pallets every week.

004

The first thing you have to do before start to roast is to weigh the green coffee,

005

after that the beans go in to the roaster and roasted a specific time normally somewhere between 12 – 16 minutes,

006

after that the beans drops down

007

on to the cooling tray to cool down

008

before being baged and shipped out to the customer.

009

Hope you enjoyed my day at work!! Leave a comment and you will be entered to win a bag of freshly roasted coffee, the winner will be announced next Sunday September 5th. Good Luck!!!

We have been very lucky and had below average temperatures in August up till now. Today when I left work to go home the thermometer showed 101*F/38* at 5pm, yikes! Thank goodness for AC!!

Fun Day!

Me and the hubby decided to drive down to Temecula for the Farmers Market today.

We have heard a lot about it and we did not get disappointed, tons of flowers and farm fresh veggies and berries and some good eating!

This was hubby’s favorite find, lol!!

 P1010030

We walked around little in the Old Town too, it has a lot of neat buildings

P1010029

and saw this Triumph chopper parked, fun to see something old for a change!

P1010024

To our big surprise, a Scandinavian store had just opened, sorry to say they did not have any Scandinavian food or candy but otherwise a very nice little store.

P1010032

This is another fun store we went in to, they had so many different kinds of sodas never seen anything like it!

P1010031

…..they had this fun sign posted! After a while did we go back to the Farmers Market and had lunch….

P1010034

T with his very yummy Gyro…..

P1010035

and my delicious Falafel

P1010038

after that did we hit freeway, the traffic was not bad at all for being the weekend.

P1010041

We stopped at this cool Airplane place on our way home, you can actually buy a kit there and build your own plane……they even had some of the models hanging from the ceiling!

Yummy!!

Ordered me an Aebleskiver Pan from AuntElse.com last weekend and got it in the mail the other day. Aebleskiver are a Danish puffy round pancake and something we buy every time we go to Solvang. Saturday was it time to use it for the first time and I could not wait!

001

No complicated ingredients needed just the basics like buttermilk, flour, eggs, baking powder and soda, salt, sugar and some melted butter and you are ready to go.

002

First round in the pan and it is looking good!

003

Couple of turns and a couple of minutes later the first batch was done.

004

I just made the Aebleskiver plain this time but you can fill them with almost anything you like.

005

All ready to enjoy with some strawberry jam and powder sugar on top.

Bon Appetit!

Would Aebleskiver be something you would consider buying if you found it at the local fair?

Proud sister and aunt!

I’m very proud of my brother who graduated from police academy and became a father on the same day, congratulations Henrik!

You can see Blå Jungfrun an itty bitty island in the background of the picture, sorry to say I have never been out the island and I grow up in the area.

My brother and his family live in Sweden so we have not yet met the little miracle except for seeing pictures, hopefully can we go home to Sweden on holiday next summer if everything goes as planned.
